Wow! 34 kids finished WNPL’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program in 2015. In this program, parents are challenged to read their child one thousand books before the child begins kindergarten.
The single most important activity parents and caregivers can do to help children become successful readers is to read aloud to them every day. YOU are your child’s first and most important teacher and you can help them develop important early literacy skills.
WNPL’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten provides reading logs to track progress, reading tips, prizes to children who reach reading milestones, a “1000 Books Wall of Fame” recognition and lots of encouragement and enthusiasm.
For more information, see our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten page, or call the Youth Services desk at 847-244-5150, extension 5.
